Hunting and Ted Turner Reserves

The earliest humans were hunter-gatherers, practicing the age-old principles of regeneration and balance. Understanding the original symbiosis of humans in our shared ecosystem provides insight into how Earth’s species were meant to co-
exist.

Exploring our role in the natural predator and prey relationship allows for greater respect of the foods we consume and promotes the balance of populations in an environment as nature intended.

In this way, Ted Turner Reserves is proud to partner with Turner Outfitting to provide opportunities for hunters to connect with nature in spectacular rewilded landscapes. These guests function as partners with biologists, as an important component in our work to create balanced, healthy, natural environments. We love helping people bring organic, grass-fed game to their plates while honoring the animal, the ecosystem, and their own health.

The Land

The landscape features Chihuahuan and semi-desert grasslands, with riparian zones of cottonwood, willow, and salt cedar along the riverbanks. The Fra Cristobal Mountain range is notable for its successfully reintroduced desert bighorn sheep population, which has since been delisted from endangered status.
