About the Ranch
The Ranch
Located in the picturesque Cienega Mountains with elevations ranging from 4,000 to 7,000 feet, Cibolo Creek Ranch, named for the buffalo that once roamed the region, is one of the oldest ranches in Texas. The ranch is composed of rolling hills and rugged mountain peaks, with roads and trails throughout. Through ongoing habitat restoration efforts, much of the 30,000 acre landscape has been returned to its pre-pioneer condition.
The Experience
Activities include motorized tours of the mountains, hiking and biking, various native and non-native hunting opportunities, horseback riding, viewing of Native American rock art, and opportunities to explore the ranch’s three historic forts built in the mid-nineteenth century.
Cibolo Creek Ranch is home to over 30 species of exotic and native wildlife including American bison, Roosevelt elk, mule deer, Barbary sheep, Carmen Mountain white-tailed deer, javelina, mountain lion, Black Buck, Gemsbok, Cape buffalo, Transcaspian urial and more.
The Accommodations
Highlighting the best of ranch living, the stunning contemporary rooms and suites combine the warmth and comfort of a true Texas homestead. Enjoy spacious rooms with wood-burning fireplaces and other comforts, as well as access to complimentary ranch amenities and services. Each room is furnished with authentic antiques and Saltillo floor tiles, 600-thread-count sheets and a complimentary toiletries package. In keeping with traditional ranch life, all rooms are pet-friendly.
The Region
The Chinati Mountains are the fourth largest mountain range in Texas. Cibolo Creek Ranch and the surrounding area feature jagged peaks, vast vistas, springs, dark night skies and a true wilderness experience. The vast ranch lies within the Chihuahuan Desert and the Trans-Pecos Ecoregion and is adjacent to both the Chinati State Natural Area and Big Bend Ranch State Park.
